Child Care Licensing Application Information

A Child Care Center is an out-of-home place in which care is provided to 16 or more children on a regular or irregular basis.  

A Family Child Care Facility is a private residence in which care is provided for 3-8 children on a regular basis and is considered Registered
A Group Child Care Facility is a private residence or other structure in which care is provided for 9 to 15 children on a regular basis and is considered Registered

An FFN (Family, Friend & Neighbor) provider is a registered child care provider who can provide care for no more than six children from separate families or all children from a "sibling group."

An RCE (Relative Care Exempt) provider is a person providing relative care who opts to be registered by the department to receive payments to provide child care.
